Would you like to support local authors, listen to a live band, and enjoy tasty treats from local food trucks? If your answer is “yes” to any of these questions, you should come to the Eat Local Read Local at Cascades Library in Sterling on October 16.
Ms. Erin Fishman, the librarian at Cascades Library and the brainchild behind Eat Local Read Local, shares, “Our annual Eat Local Read Local event is a wonderful opportunity for our many local authors in the area to showcase their talent, increase their readership, and sell copies of their most recent works. It is an outdoor event under tents in our parking lot, and this year we will have 68 authors set up at booths, two local food trucks, a band, and a balloon artist for the children. We hope the community will come out, enjoy some good food and music, and support our local authors!”
One author, Ms. Suzi Weinert, has a very interesting story. She is a “garage and estate-sale enthusiast”. At some of the sales she visited, she found items that had a one-of-a-kind backstory. Inspired by these discoveries, Ms Suzi went on to write several books called the “Garage Sale Mystery” series. This was later converted into a Hallmark Movie series.
The event has been held every year since 2016 (other than 2020, due to the pandemic). Ms. Erin visualizes this event as one that brings the community together, showcases local talent, and is festive in nature.
Fun fact: I was a volunteer for the 2019 edition of this event. The atmosphere was joyous. I met many friendly authors who loved sharing their story.
I look forward to seeing you all at Cascades Library for Eat Local Read Local!
