Matsu Sushi (Restaurant Review)

Sushi, arguably the most popular aspect of Japanese cuisine, can be hard to perfect. However, a cozy restaurant in Centreville called Matsu Sushi does exactly that.

From colorful Rainbow Rolls to spicy Funky Rolls, Matsu Sushi flaunts a wide variety of sushi. In addition to the typical maki rolls and nigiri, they offer sixteen “special rolls” that contain a unique variety of flavors. For example, their “Alex Roll” consists of salmon, avocado, and cream cheese. Another thing that sets them apart from other restaurants is their large selection of vegetarian options. Sushi isn’t the only thing they offer, though. Their lunch and dinner menus include dishes like chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura, vegetable curry, and beef yakisoba.

When I ordered from Matsu a few months back, I found the sushi to be absolutely amazing. I had tried sushi from several different places but thought Matsu’s was certainly the best. Their rolls tasted fresh and were bursting with flavor. However, some of the other dishes from the menu weren’t quite to my liking. For example, I thought the tempura was bland and the chicken teriyaki was just mediocre. In my opinion, when ordering from Matsu, it’s definitely best to stick to sushi. Personally, I would recommend the avocado roll.

Overall, I would definitely recommend ordering from Matsu if you’re harboring a sushi craving. Especially during the pandemic, it can be difficult to find a restaurant with a multitude of options still available, yet Matsu manages to do that. Furthermore, a little bit of support can go a long way! You can order pickup or delivery from their website at https://www.gomatsu.com/.
