In today’s Book Club we had to finish our book. My two open ended questions are, “Why did they not execute Tae-yul?” and  “After the war why did it take so long for Tae-yul to get home?” The highlight from our book was when Tae-yul came home and told his family what happened when he went to the army. Pg.180. My summary of the book is this. When the Japanese took over Korea, all the Koreans had to try to become Japanese. When Sun-hee and Tae-yul were born they when Japanese were in control. They have to struggle with the war. When Uncle becomes a rebel he has to leave. Tae-yul joins the army so he doesn’t have to lure him out. At the end Tae-yul returns from prison.
