Historical Fiction/199/2012
When My Name Was Keoko is a book about love, courage, and family. It had some really good lessons. Also, the book had alternating character parts, so the reader got a better understanding from both sides. Korea is a country that was occupied by Japan in World War 2. Tae-yul and Sun-hee are siblings living in Korea at this time. One day the emperor of Japan orders that all Koreans change their name to be more Japanese. This is where the story picks up. The siblings fight to save there Korean culture. I think this book was great. I was never aware of the occupation of Korea by Japan The book has great facts. It also has one big lesson that I think is important for everyone to remember; Family First. Everything the characters in this book do is for their family. I really think people who like history and are ready for a sitting on the edge of your seat type of read should read this book. 1/2/19

Book Club Reflection
What I most liked about book clubs was the fact that we got to collaborate with our friends for this rotation of Book Clubs. We were really good at discussing what we read in the book. Next time I would change the blog posts because they were not my most favorite thing. I think next time we should meet at the end of reading the book, because there were way too many pages to read in two days. Also we should be held accountable by doing a project at the end such as an IMovie or a Flip Grid.
