In today’s book club discussion, I brought up two more open ended questions along with everyone else. My two questions were “how do external forces affect James’ skills” and “how did other people’s actions affect Bruce’s decision at the bowling alley.” In our discussion, we had a few closed ended questions including one about what Bruce did. As a group, we fixed that question to “what do you think was going through his mind?” Another highlight of our discussion was when we talked about the Cherub recruitment process. One of our members thought their parents’, who were supposedly Ex-Cherub members, signed them up, but everyone at Cherub was an orphan. He then added that they all died in car crashes, tornadoes, etc. We thought about it but realized that there were hundreds of members at Cherub. How would all of them have died of causes that weren’t natural. Eventually, we came to the conclusion that they probably sent out agents, to look for orphans that they thought would be a good fit at Cherub. We did a lot of thinking and debating, but we were able to come to unanimous decisions. Of course, at the end of our discussions, we did our cheers (whooo, whooo).
“My name is Barry Allen, and I am the fastest man alive. When I was a child I saw my mother killed by something impossible. My father went to prison for the murder. Then an accident made me the impossible. To the outside world, I’m an ordinary forensic scientist, but secretly, I use my speed to fight crime and find others like me. And one day, I’ll find who killed my mother and get justice for my father. I am the Flash.”
