Ohio, So Much to Discover!

This past weekend, I went to Columbus, Ohio for a wedding. The wedding was fun, but it was more interesting to explore and discover things about the city that my mom grew up in. I knew that my mother did not have much money growing up, but looking at the suburbs where she grew up was very emotional for me. The neighborhoods that she spent most of her time in were super sketchy. The first house in Columbus that she lived in, pictured above, had legit bars on their storm door! My dad, my sister, and I were creeped out by the neighborhood, by my mom showed that she wasn’t really fazed by it all because she kept going right up to their house and taking pictures of it and the backyards. We also went to the Ohio statehouse. It was pretty cool. I had never been to a statehouse before, and seeing how easy it is to knock on the doors of the offices of the local government kind of shocked me, but what shocked me more was how cool Ohio was. It was the birthplace of so many great people. If you do decide to go to Columbus, I recommend going to the Statehouse, and to go to the German Village. It is a cute area downtown that is home to many amazing stores such as the Book Loft, a bookstore that has 32 rooms. It is the prize of downtown Columbus, and I unknowingly spent nearly three hours in the store because it is so peaceful and mesmerizing. It is definitely a city worth seeing, but remember to stick to the downtown areas, because even the suburbs can be unsettling.
