exploring the world one day at a time

1

Bluemont, Virginia

Sunrises. Whether watching from my bedroom window, the pool during an early morning practice, or the top of a mountain, I never fail to enjoy the wide array of colors painting the sky.

On the last day of 2017 I had decided to venture out into the (very very) brisk 5am air with a few of my good friends. Previously introduced to Bears Den, an easy hike with a beautiful view, we made the 40 minute drive just in time for the sunrise.

Walking along the path freshly covered in snow, we had made sure to bundle up into at least three layers along with a thick blanket. If hiking during the colder seasons, don’t forget to wear gloves, a scarf, and thick socks!!!

Unfortunately I had completely missed the fact that the outlook faced the west. Despite facing the wrong way, we had still been met with the awakening of Bluemont. I’d just suggest taking on this specific hike for a sunset (which is just as beautiful).
