All About Lily!

Hey y’all! My name is Lily and I’m a student in Virginia. Here are some top 10 *interesting* facts about me that will give you a brighter view of who I am. I can not wait to start my blog off and share my interests with you guys. Maybe we share the same interests, who knows?

1.) My mom is from Germany and my dad is from the United States. Growing up in a bilingual household was very interesting and different compared to my classmates’ upbringings. I was often made fun of and shamed for my heritage, but now I’m proud to be a German-American! However, being bilingual is still very difficult. Since I have zero friends who speak german, it’s hard to keep up the language when I only speak it to my family. There are also some amusing times where I know a word and I’m trying to explain what it means, but I only know it in german.

2.) I am an only child. There are pros and cons when it comes to having no siblings. I have my own bedroom and bathroom, and I don’t have to worry about not getting my mom’s attention whenever something important comes up, but it can also be lonely sometimes and whenever I get in trouble, I have no one to put the blame on. But I get more money for my allowance than my friends, so I guess you could say I’m lucky that I’m an only child.

3.) My guilty pleasure is watching reality TV and eating dark chocolate. I LOVE the bachelor franchise and 90 day fiance. Reality TV always cheers me up whenever I’m having a bad day because it’s pointless yet, so funny to watch. After taking a shower, I’ll take out my homework, turn on the TV to whatever reality TV show is on and I multitask by watching the show and doing my homework. My reality TV pleasure has decreased over the past couple of years but once in a while, I’ll just turn on the TV and get back to watching “The Real Housewives”.

4.) I have been a reader and a writer ever since I was able to speak. I taught myself how to read (no joke) when I was around 3 or 4 by reading the closed captions off the TV. My mom thought I was able to read the captions because I knew people with the names “William” and “Mark”, but after her friends told her that I could actually read, she started taking me seriously. Once I was able to write, I couldn’t stop writing stories. Whenever someone would give me a marker, I would write with it instead of drawing with it. I still have my first story, a story I wrote about myself using pictures when I was a baby.

5.) I’m obsessed with the royal family, ever since I watched William and Kate’s wedding in 2011 at the age of five. Whenever they come up in the news, I immediately stop what I’m doing and hear what the reporters have to say. My friends say I’m crazy, I think I’m brilliant for knowing so much about them. I also adore Meghan Markle and what her stances are on political issues such as women’s rights. Who knows? Maybe I’ll become a reporter for the royals, we’ll see.

6.) Any mood I’m in, I always listen to music. Whenever I’m angry, sad, happy, stressed, I put on my earbuds and go on my spotify playlist. Even though I sadly can’t carry a tune, I have a playlist for nearly every mood I have. I like to say I have better music taste than my friends but they like to disagree with me about that. I have a new playlist every month and either go on pinterest or google to make it more “aesthetic”. My spotify username is @/lcj223, trust me you won’t regret it if you listen to one of my playlists. Here’s my summer playlist : https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3e7xOJDqYluZ2JnoyzAQTV

7.) I am also a huge fan of Zendaya. Ever since she started on “Shake It Up”, she’s always been my favorite. I am so so proud of how far she has come from Disney to being on “Euphoria”. I would love to meet her one day and talk about her experiences as an actress and a singer! I’m really glad that she’s finally getting the recognition that she deserves. She’s worked so hard to be at the level that she is right now and I can’t help but feel like a proud mom!

8.) I love fashion. My mom says that I inherited from her, and I have to admit that it is true. My fashion icons are a range of celebrities from Zendaya to Princess Diana to random strangers I see at the grocery store. My style can be cute and casual yet quirky and unpredictable. I love wearing unique and bright colors as well as matching colors that no one thought of doing. From pink and green to red and blue, I like pairing colors that compliment each other. Not too dark, not too light, a perfect combination

9.) I really like to travel and explore different places. I have been to four countries, and this summer, I traveled to Germany, France, and Monaco and had an amazing yet shocking experience staying in Europe (with no AC!) Walking around, I saw the beautiful architecture France has to offer yet I was sweating like crazy. I try to be a globally aware citizen and learn other people’s cultures than judging them for how they live their life. My next bucket list destination is London!

10.) For some reason, I have this fascination with decorating rooms. Watching HGTV design shows like “Flip or Flop” and “Fixer Upper” got me into this passion that I now use all the time today. Because of my newly found fascination, I redecorated my bedroom and always look for ideas to make it better whether it’s posters or picture frames. I also have a “celebrity” wall where I have cut out pictures out of magazines of my favorite celebrities and tape them on my wall.

There you have it y’all! Top 10 facts about myself. I hope you guys enjoyed reading this, and leave a comment down below! I may be a giant in real life, but I promise I’m not scary. Your words mean a lot to me!
