How to write quality comments

Hello, my fellow nerds! Nature Nerd here. I hope you are having a lovely day. It is currently cold and pouring rain where I am in this planet of ours. So, to keep warm and cozy I am sitting on a recliner couch with a blanket and a nice mug of hot chocolate, currently writing this post for you. By the way, happy spooky, or some may say spoopy, season to you! I love Halloween. The costumes, the decorations, and, of course, the candy. I like all types of candy, besides super sour types. What is your favorite candy? If you don’t celebrate Halloween, then, happy fall season to you!

Anyway, as you know, I am participating in the Student Blogging Challenge. The challenge for week two is to create a step by step list on how to write a quality comment. Me and Abby, from Abby’s Bloggeroni, created a list to help you create quality comments. Here it is:

How to write a quality comment on a blog!

1) Give a greeting!

Say hello to the writer and introduce yourself.

2) Say something nice!

Once you read the post, compliment the writer. Say something about the visuals or the story that is shared in their blog. You want to spread positivity if you want more people to visit your blog.

3) Find a similarity!

Read over their post to look for things you have in common with them, if you can’t find anything in their post that you can relate with, then find something that interested you in the post.

4) Write about it!

Tell the writer a compliment and a similarity between you and the writer. Sometimes, a writer leaves a question at the end of their post that you can respond to. You shouldn’t give your full name, your location, your birthday, or a strong opinion you have, because that could spark an argument.

5) Ask a question!

Give the writer a question that gives them something to respond to. That way they can reply to your comment. You can ask about a detail that wasn’t in their story or about an interest that you have in common.

6) Review and edit!

Read through your comment and edit it. Make sure you have proper grammar and spelling.

7) Sign it off!

Leave either your first name, your nickname, or your blog name. Whichever you want to be called by. Under your name leave a link to your blog so the writer can repay the visit if they please.

That is how you write a quality comment. The most important thing to remember, in my opinion, is to be supportive. You also need to make sure you leave your blog name and a link you your blog, too. That way the writer can visit your blog. I hope you have learned from this list Abby and I created. Make sure to head to Abby’s blog for more entertaining content.

As always, thank you for reading my blog. Please leave a link to your blog in the comments, so I can repay the visit. Have a Happy Autumn and a Happy Halloween. Posts of my halloween stories are coming soon, so stick around if you want to see that.  I hope to see you all again sometime soon. Nerd out! 😛

  1. What a great post! I really liked how you kept the steps and instructions simple. I also like that you made this a regular written out post. I’ve been seeing a lot of “How To Comment” videos (I personally made a video so no shade to anyone that made one) and I like that you did something different. Keep up the great work! 2. Hello, Nature Nerd. I really enjoyed reading your post about commenting on others’ posts. My name is Barbara, but my students call me Señora. It’s cold and rainy where I am too, hot chocolate sounds great right now. 🙂

Now that you have composed an excellent guide for commenting, are you going to comment on others’ posts?
If I could add one piece of advice for you, it would be: make sure that you take the time to think and be creative. Don’t write the same comments to each blogger. It gets boring for you, and for them. Have fun!

Another question for you: do you prefer writing blogs or commenting on blogs? If you haven’t tried commenting yet, perhaps you’ll try a few before you make a decision.

  3. Hi Nature Nerd,

I’m anxiously anticipating the moment you drop your story onto your blog. Will it be posted by midnight tonight? Will the clock toll to alert me to its arrival? Will a black cat walk across my path to signal your story’s debut? Is your tale one of terror or triumph? Your fans are all standing in line for the big release!

I’ve enjoyed all your posts thus far. I’m certain your original story will be no exception. Remember to submit your “Fun with Photos” post by filling out the SBC Google Form for Week 3. The link is posted on the home page of Rombach Raven Rockstars, our class blog. Only bloggers that submit their URLS are on the list of student submissions (the one commenters, teachers, and students all access for the week).

    I’m waiting impatiently. 🙂

  4. Hello Nature Nerd my name is Bella. I really enjoyed reading your post about how to write good quality comments. I love how you kept it simple and made the points short and easy. I also love to have hot chocolate and cuddle up (whether it is bad weather or not) because it reminds me of the holidays. I really thought that this is a great post for helping people write good and supportive comments, especially for newer bloggers like me.
When you were a new blogger did you come across any posts similar to this one and is that how you learned? If not how did you learn how to write a good quality post?
Great blog post this helped me so much! If you’d like to come visit my blog here is the link to it.
