Dig is a story told by five different teens who are very different but connected someway.  The teens are The Shoveler, Malcolm, The Freak, Loretta, and CanIHelpYou?.  Each one of them has their problems and is dealing with something – abuse, death of a parent, poverty, terminal illness, neglect, addiction, racism, etc.  Their stories and lives eventually come together uncovering a horrific past.

The characters in this book are different, unique, and a bit weird but each with their unique problems and distinct voice this book will make you think about today’s social problems and issues.  It is a dark and uncomfortable read but I recommend that you ‘dig’ through it.
