Book of Unknown Americans by Christina Henriquez

Maribel Rivera’s parents will do anything for their daughter.  Thus, after a horrific brain accident that leaves her suffering with severe headaches, and unable to complete her school work, her parents and her make the journey from Mexico to the United States so that she can have a better education.  They land in Delaware in an apartment complex where all the residents are immigrants.  There Maribel meets a boy, Mayor.  Their love story has it ups and downs and is intertwined with the stories of other residents in the building, as the story is told in alternating voices among the residents of the apartment complex.  They are all Spanish speaking immigrants and their stories tell of the struggles immigrants face coming to the United States.  This book is an eye opening read.
