Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls

7445Jeannette Walls shares an honest and raw story of her upbringing.  Her father is an alcoholic, who works off and on, but most of his drive is to strike it rich and build the family a magnificent house, “Glass Castle”.  Her mother loves to paint, read, and has a teaching degree but most of the time refuses to work.  She has three siblings, two sisters and a brother.  The family lives a nomadic life as the parents are always uprooting the family on the search for something better or running for the law.  The parents are less than parents and the kids are left alone care for themselves, most of the time hungry and dirty.

I highly recommend this book as it will evoke all emotions in you.   Get ready to be angry, laugh, cry, and simple say “Oh, my!”
