This is a must read as it is a heart wrenching account of what is happening in America now.  This book is inspired by #BlackLivesMatter movement.  It is the story of sixteen year old Starr who witnesses her best friend Khalil get killed at the hands of a police officer.  Khalil was unarmed and Starr is the only witness.  The murder makes the news and people flock to the streets to riot.  Others call Khalil a drug dealer and a thug.  Throughout the book, Starr struggles with telling what really happened as she afraid for her life.   What she says or doesn’t say could change lives forever.  You will have to read the book to find out what she does.
