Different Learning Styles

The audience I directed this google sites towards are students. Originally it was for teachers to get them to know the issue. However, I realized many students do not know about the issue either, so I decided to give them some insight on it. There was nobody else really I could think of that would benefit from this information besides the teachers and students. Many students may not know that they are smart because they struggle in some certain classes. That can be due to teachers not including all styles of learning and accommodating all students. I did not change up the texts from my six page essay to the google sites much, however I did give the main information students should know. I want students to know this because they should know they learn differently from others because everyone is unique in their learning style. Before I knew this, I was always discouraged when I did not do the best in certain classes, but then I just realized that teachers teach in certain ways that I just do not understand fully. Furthermore, I want to spread the word to wider audiences, not just students and teachers, but this is a good start.

Seasons

Many people ask me what my favorite season is, my answer is always fall or winter, and to that answer they make a face and cringe. I love the cold. When spring and summer come I dread it. I don’t understand how people enjoy being hot and sweaty. When the cold weather comes, it starts to snow and rain more which is the best. When it rains, I can sleep better and am more relaxed. When it snows, we may not have school the next day or the day of, and we can play in it, and who doesn’t love playing in snow? Additionally, the cold weather also brings comfier clothing. When it is cold, all I want to do is dress in a big sweater and leggings vs when it’s hot and the clothing is more uncomfortable. I would say I enjoy the springtime, however, where we live spring lasts for a week. It’s either too cold still during spring or too hot and it is practically summer. The spring does have my birthday and the end of the school year though I’ll give it that. There’s just something about the winter season that I love. The warm coffee or hot chocolate and Christmas time feels is the best. Everyone just seems a bit happier during this time. We also get quite a few snow days and on top of that winter break. Oh and can’t forget New Years and thanksgiving! I’m most excited for this New Years because it will be 2020 and that means graduation year, spring does have one good thing this school year!

2020

The 20’s are almost here. In merely two months, it will be the year we graduate, following our first year of college. Thinking about how it is already about to be 2020 blows my mind. I can’t come to comprehend how the teens will be over. So many things occurred during this time. We all grew up during this era. We went through elementary, middle, and high school. Now, we are about to go through college in the 20’s. The teens was the time when we met our closest friends we have now. We went from kids to young adults. I know it is just a year and it shouldn’t be as deep as I am making it, however, I can’t help myself from thinking and realizing these things. Ever since I was young, I thought of 2020 as the year I graduate, and now that it is coming up, I can’t believe how close it is. To think graduation is in 7 months, and then after that, our first year of college. That being said, I am mostly excited more so than nervous or sad. The year of 2020 has many things to come, hopefully good. I hope we all experience new things as we grow up and turn 18. We will be considered adults, and can even vote. We had many of our lasts this year as seniors, but college will hold many firsts. The thought of all this is bittersweet. Furthermore, the year 2020 will create many memories for all of us that we won’t forget.

Post hoco depression

The post spirit/homecoming week depression is real for all of us. Having so much fun and suddenly going back to the usual can really be depressing. During spirit week all students are hype and having a great time with the spirit judging, dressing up, homecoming game and homecoming right around the corner. However, after that, all the fun is over and we have to go back to being procrastinating high schoolers. People say senior year is supposed to be easier or less stressful, but they couldn’t be more wrong. Although, during spirit week my mind wasn’t thinking about school or college applications or anything to make me stressed. I was just having fun with my friends. I can probably say that this senior year spirit week has been the most fun out of any of the others. But now that all of it is over, the amount of work I need to catch up on hit me like a brick. Even yesterday, with the senior bowling day, my mind was at ease. I woke up this morning dreading getting out of my warm bed to get up and do so much work I haven’t done. I can honestly say I’m still tired from junior year and wasn’t ready for another year of stress. Hopefully, though, after December and after all the college stress is gone I can actually enjoy school as I did during spirit week, with no stress. I just want May to come so I can get excited for pre graduation preparations, even though it will be bittersweet.

Highschool years

As my final year of high school starts, I look back and reminisce about the earlier years. Time goes by too fast. We all say we want this year to be over and done with so we can go to college, but do we really want to leave? We all make the best memories in high school with our friends and experience different things. A part of me does want to leave and grow up and go off to college, but another part of me is scared of leaving a place I have gotten so used to. As high schoolers, we spend most of our “growing up” years here. We go from ages 14-18 and every age between has huge impact on our life. During these years we develop from young adults to adults. We change so much throughout high school and almost adapt to it. I feel like I have created the best memories in this place, no matter how much I dislike it. We spent most of our teenage years here and this is the last step before real life. I try not to spend much time stressing about college because I want to enjoy the next 9 months. Of course now, though, we have to start the college application process which is exciting but also makes me a little uneasy. But with that being said, I still have many special memories to make and can’t wait for what is to come with all the special senior activities this school year.

High School Artifact

The high school artifact I decided to use was my polaroid camera. I purchased the camera right before my high school years started; I was passionate about photography. The pictures I have taken with the camera have produced many memories throughout the years. It is bittersweet looking through old pictures of friends and family. I have many pictures of friends who I don’t talk to anymore and cousins as well which is the sad part. However, there’s also the good times where I look and see a picture and smile at the memory of it. My polaroid pictures are scattered everywhere in my room, from being taped on my mirror to pushed on a corkboard. I keep most of my photos in a photo album sectioned by friends, family, and special events.

A big factor with having a polaroid camera is buying the film for it, which can get pricey. At some point my parents did not want to pay for that much film, which I understood, so I got a job. Obviously, not only to buy film, but that was a part of it because photography was something I did not want to stop doing. In total, I have about 350 different pictures. It is a lot and I sound crazy buying that much film, but it was so worth it. The memories I have made just through a picture doesn’t add up to any amount of cash. I know these pictures are something I can look back on for the rest of my life. I am hoping with my senior year I can continue making more memories my final year of high school.

Organic Object

Walking into my english class on the first day of school I would expect the traditional introduction then syllabus, which we did get in a way, but we also had to write about organic objects. The confusion I felt was quite funny, actually. I decided to write about a fig. It was difficult at first, thinking about what to write as I stared at it. As I kept staring, this fruit reminded me of a rocky hillside cliff. The jagged texture caused it to be seen as this way. Why are you so steep? I remember climbing up a hillside cliff and the rocks were so rough and the hill was so steep I hated it. Do you like being this annoying? The fig overall had this pruny, wrinkled look to it, like an elderly person’s skin. An elderly person’s skin would be more soft and delicate, though. This fig is rough and hard.

Over the time I have had you in my backpack, you’ve aged quickly. The rotting smell is obvious as you also develop little green spots, like the back side of a sponge. Are you doing okay?

I wonder how this fig tastes? Definitely not pleasant by the looks of it rotting. The more I look at you the more you are starting to look like a volcano that is about to explode. The tip top of you resembles the volcano top as your body curves out in the shape of the volcano.

I am so tired of talking about this small, rotten, fig. However, I will say how fascinating it was to do this and see where your mind wanders. I never thought I would be thinking of a fig as a rocky cliff or a volcano or a sponge or even asking it silly questions. It is truly amazing to see how far our minds wander.

Repetition Ao6 Ao7

After reading these articles I have come to realize repetition is so important. I used to think repetition would influence my writing in a negative way, but it adds much more element. Repetition holds so much power within it when used correctly. The “Never Shall I Forget” poem from the book Night sent shivers down my spine because of how much power it held. I don’t understand why we were never taught to use this technique in our writing because it creates more emphasis and overall makes our writing better. I really liked how the author said “repetition reinforces the central theme of the work.” The use of repeating a word or phrase in our writing can keep the reader interested and focused on the main idea. Before reading this article I didn’t understand why repetition was so important, however, now I can comprehend why authors use this technique and how much more deepness it gives their writing.
