My Top 10

For today’s blog, I decided to make a list of some of the songs I’ve had on heavy rotation for the past couple of months. These are not in order, although some are better than others, I love all of them equally. I hope you give these songs a listen because they are all very good.

  1. Get Well Soon – Ariana Grande. This song was released in August of 2018, in her album Sweetener. It is in the Pop genre; I don’t like pop, but Ariana is my favorite artist, and she makes really good music. It starts with her singing the hook, then there are snaps, then the first verse comes in. The vocals in this song are very beautiful, there are harmonies and the song flows very smoothly in general. The lyrics are also very nice, they talk about positivity and mental health.
  2. 1950 – King Princess. This song has an oldish sound to it. Although it falls into the pop category, it has a very beautiful sway to it, and I think it would be nice to dance slowly to.
  3. I’m Sorry – Ameer Vann. This single was released in 2016 and is categorized as Hip-Hop/Rap. This song is very personal and raw. At around the 1:35 mark of the song, he stops rapping, and it’s just music. Then a little later, at the 2:00 mark, the beat drops and it gets darker. The electric guitar comes in strumming chords in a complex but beautiful pattern, then the song suddenly stops.
  4. Rose Golden – Kid Cudi (feat. Willow Smith). Released in 2016, this unique song falls into the Hip-Hop/Rap category. I’ve always admired Kid Cudi’s style, he’s very unique and manages to keep rap in his borderline alternative music. Willow sings the chorus, and it makes you feel special and connected with yourself and the universe while you’re listening to it.
  5. While We’re Young – Jhené Aiko. Released in 2017, this song is in the R&B/Soul. This song talks about love and how people should enjoy everything they can for as long as they can while they’re young.
  6. Come Back To Earth – Mac Miller. Mac’s music is very diverse, this song came out in his album swimming, in 2018. The song is not rap, although it falls under the Hip-Hop/Rap category. It’s a very slow and relaxing song.
  7. She – Tyler, The Creator (feat. Frank Ocean)This song starts off with Tyler’s first verse, then Frank Ocean comes in the chorus. This song has a very nice tune and beat to it.
  8. RENTAL – BROCKHAMPTON. Falling into the Hip-Hop/Rap category, this song was released in 2017. Unlike a lot of their other songs, this song is more upbeat and happy, and I really like it.
  9. A Song For Her – Phora. This song is a much older one. I remember listening to it with my older sister when I was around 9 and I loved it. It’s a nice song that starts off with a guitar pattern, then a beat comes in, and Phora comes in with his first verse.
  10. Love – Keyshia Cole. This song is really old, and my sister would play it for me when I was growing up. This song was released in 2005 and is categorized as R&B/Soul. This song has really beautiful vocals and a catchy chorus. I love this song because it perfectly describes how love feels. Overall, I think it’s a cute song.
