Anvengers: Endgame (No spoilers included!)

This past Wednesday I saw Avengers:Endgame in the theaters with my friend Ella. She is a huge marvel fan and had seen all the movies up to this point, unlike me. I am not a huge marvel fan and haven’t seen all the movies, but wanted to see what all the hype was about. All over social media I would see “DON’T SPOIL ENDGAME” I was really curious to see what is was all about. The movie is rated PG-13 and is three hours long! Three hours was a bit too long in my opinion. The plot of the overall movie is about the last Avengers movie where all the superheroes turn into dust into an alternate universe. This movie is all about turning back the time to get everyone back. Ant Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Nebula, and Rocket Raccoon have to do this by getting all the gems back from Thanos. They do this by creating a time travel bracelet and go back in time to where the gems are. They all split into teams and go on these crazy journeys to get them. The rest of the movie contains the major spoilers, so I will keep it a mystery. If you are a huge marvel this is a must see because it is the end of an era. If you are like me and just wanted to see what all the hype was about I don’t really recommend it. I was very confused at some parts because of my lack of marvel knowledge. Overall the movie was good, and would’ve been a lot better if I had seen all the marvel movies. I would rate this movie a 7/10.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

Mamma Mia is a classic movie that everyone knows and loves. I saw this movie over the summer in the theaters and loved it. I had seen the original and loved it, but the more modernized version is much better in my opinion. I do recommend watching the first one before you watch this one because it will help you understand more of the movie. This movie has a soundtrack that will make you want to get up and dance right in the theater. It’s a very interesting look into Donna’s life before her daughter. You see Donna graduate college and she decides to go adventure in Europe. She meets Bill, Harry, and Sam along the way on her adventures. The movie also goes back into the present where Donna’s daughter Sophie is revonating a taverna in Greece, this was Donna’s dream. Donna has past away in the present times, so Sophie is living out her dreams. This movie is great for a family movie night, and is just a really uplifting and fun movie. I would rate this a 8.5/10.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Bohemian Rhapsody is PG-13 and is a drama/biography film. This movie was outstanding the acting, music, and overall film was very well done. The movie is based on the band Queen who’s lead singer is Freddie Mercury. The movie really only goes in depth about Freddie’s life because he’s the one that really created “Queen”.  Throughout the movie you see how they went from nobody’s to one of music’s greatest bands. Freddie had a very hard and complicated life especially since he was questioning his sexuality, and back then it was quite frowned upon. He goes through trouble with drugs, alcohol, fame, and his family. His father never approved of him being a singer because he thought it wouldn’t last. He got caught up in the fame and eventually left the band for a couple years, but they reunited after to continue “Queen”. Towards the end of the movie you see Freddie get diagnosed with aids, and this really takes a toll on his vocal cords. He eventually gets too sick to even perform. This movie is definitely a must see. I had heard of Queen, but did not know their story. Also, the soundtrack is amazing and made me enjoy their music. Rami Malek who plays “Freddie” is an amazing actor and really plays Freddie well. I rate this movie a 9/10 only because I feel they skipped over some instrumental parts of Freddie life to make it a PG-13 film.

The Grinch

Christmas is just around the corner and I recently saw The Grinch in theaters. This was another animated remake of the grinch. This was considered a fantasy/musical and is rated PG. The movie is perfect for a family movie night. It was very cute and well done. In this remake the Grinch is made out to more compassionate and nice. In other versions I’ve seen he was more mean spirited. In the movie you’re made to feel bad for the Grinch instead of him being unlikable. The rest of the movie was all around a great film. I rate it a 7.5/10.

The Hate U Give

Over the weekend I went to the movie theater and saw “The Hate U Give”. This movie is rated PG-13 and considered a drama/thriller movie. This movie faces real life harsh topics head on and sets a great message. This movie is set around the Black Lives Matter movement. A teenage girl named Starr and her friend Khalil, the driver, got pulled over by a white cop. Khalil stepped out of the car and was shot by the officer. The whole movie was set around Starr and how she stands up for Khalil. She was the only witness and felt like she had a voice. This movie was very well produced and very well thought out. I rate this movie 8/10.
