SBC Week Seven Post – Holidays and Celebrations

Hi everyone, I’m back with the Week Seven Blogging Challenge post. This week we are posting about holidays. I am going to be talking about Thanksgiving .

I love the holiday Thanksgiving for many reasons one being I love to cook. You make a lot of things on thanksgivings. Number two it is a time that you gather with your family, and for me there is not a lot of time when my whole family under the same roof.

On Thanksgiving, I am always in and out of the kitchen looking for something to help with, but every year we get assigned a job. For the past three years, my grandma, aunts and my mom cook all the amazing food, all the dads watch football games, my sisters take my cousins outside to play in the leaves, and I stay inside with my two one year old cousins. Around four o’clock, we eat dinner. We have two tables: a kid table and an adult table. We have two tables because we don’t have enough space at the dining room table, and lets just say you don’t want to eat with 2-5 year olds(it gets messy). We eat green beans, mashed potatoes, ham, turkey, stuffing and lots more.

I love this holiday for all those reasons and can’t wait for it this year. This is Cana your favorite blogger signing off.

  1. Cana,
I completely relate to your post because I also enjoyed an enormous Thanksgiving feast when I was younger. In fact, we always celebrated with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and sometimes even family friends. Similar to your house, we had one table for the kids and one table for the adults. I couldn’t wait to be old enough to sit at the adult table because they always seemed to be having so much fun.
The long walk after dinner was always the highlight of our day because the sun would be setting, the air was usually crisp and energizing, and we knew that delicious desserts were awaiting us back at the house.
Thanks for sharing your favorite holiday with us,

  2. Hi Cana-

Your house sounds much like the house I grew up in. However, my current household has as many football fans as members, so both the girls and the guys will be sitting in front of the TV watching football. I’m the baker and chopper, while my husband is the chef in the kitchen. I’m not sure when it happened, but eventually my very average cooking skills were supplanted by my husband’s inventive culinary creations. He’s the master of spices, and goes overboard tasting and fine-tuning every dish. I’m the pumpkin pie and sweet potato spoon bread maker, and I’m fine with that. I’ll sneak away and read while he steams up the kitchen. HAHA

Thanks for sharing your holiday traditions with the world. If you cook up something marvelous over Thanksgiving, definitely snap a photo and share it here on your blog. You’ll make us all hungry! 🙂

  3. Cana,

Thanks for participating in the Student Blogging Challenge. Your Thanksgiving post is great! I enjoyed finding out how you and your family celebrate together. Do you have a favorite dish that is served on Thanksgiving? What desserts does your family serve?

My family comes to me on Thanksgiving. I live on a small farm and it is a perfect place to celebrate together and have a harvest feast.

Have you had an opportunity to visit and comment on other blogs that are a part of the challenge? Here is one I think you should check out: http://cloontaghemma.edublogs.org/2019/11/21/christmas-in-my-house/
