November 24, 2017. On this day the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8+ were released. These devices were not the only thing announced that day. In addition to announcing Qi Wireless Charging support, Apple announced the AirPower mat. A oval shaped device that can wirelessly charge your AirPods, Apple Watch, and iPhone, and that was it. This brings up to now. Apple recently had an event and AirPower was never mentioned. Many fellow Apple fans thought that Tim Cook was going to walk on stage and introduce the final version of AirPower, but instead we took steps back. The AirPower page on Apple’s website was removed and the system that Apple included, on the iPhone 8, iPhone 8+, and iPhone X, to allow AirPower to work, has been removed from the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, and iPhone Xr. AirPower was supposed to be the future of charging, and all we’re left with is the memories of what it could have been.
