100 Word Challenge #9

This is my 100 word challenge. The prompt was this photo

My father dropped me off at his old house in the country, where my grandparents lived, for a nice week away from technology. My Grandma eagerly awaited me at the front door with arms outstretched. I gave her a hug and came inside to find my Grandpa staring out the window. I followed his gaze to a weathered bronze statue of a scarecrow with a plaque in front of it. He quickly snapped back to attention when he heard my Grandma come in and close the door. We made eye contact, and I peaked back at the statue once more.

Hope you enjoyed!

  1. Kia Ora Patrick. What a captivating story! I especially like your sentence ‘I followed his gaze to a weathered bronze statue ….’
And your ending is super too! It made me think that Grandpa had a secret? Awesome work Patrick, keep on writing!
