Let’s Talk Corona

Hi, and welcome back to a sane post.

I haven’t done the blogging challenges in a while, so I decided that I should probably do this one. (That’s a lie. My teacher actually just assigned us this post.) So, anyways, I’m just going to get right in!

Schools around the globe have always been, well, different. A few years back, I actually attended an international school over in Bangkok, Thailand. We were on the schedule known as “year-round school.” As horrible as that sounds, it’s actually a lot better, in my opinion. Summers would be shorter, yeah, but we would have a ton more short breaks sprinkled throughout the year. We also had a ton more freedom, but that might’ve just been because we all attended a fancy private school in a gated community.

However, I think this coronavirus thing really united how schools act around the world. Before quarantine actually happened, I remember joking around with friends and hoping school got shut down because we didn’t want to go to school. Now that it’s actually happened, I bet a lot of people wish they cherished school more. Don’t get me wrong, I’m perfectly happy being locked inside my house, but some people aren’t.

Now that schools around the world are all shut down, we’re all being forced to teach the exact same way: online. People who have never had anything in common before are now striking up friendships just by talking about their classmates and things they do during quarantine.

I don’t have much else to talk about, so that’ll be all! Stay safe!

impulses :)

Yo, what’s up? Today, I’m going to talk about…

I know, weird topic. However, I am the queen of impulses, so therefore, I’m going to write about them.

Since this post is about my impulses, I will be writing it including all of my impulses and random thoughts (including paragraph skips). 🙂 This post probably won’t be very grammatically correct. Sorry 🙁

So, recently I’ve had the impulse to start crochet.

I’ve never done anything like it before, but just last night I mentioned it and my mom said she’d order the materials. I don’t have much else on the crochet topic.

We’ll also be covering my hair impulses. I get these a lot. Like, a lot a lot. Back in the summer, I was really tempted to get bangs. That phase happened when I wasn’t even allowed to cut my hair. I’m actually really glad I wasn’t allowed to because, wow, I would not look good with bangs.

My most recent hair impulse is still going on. I swear, as soon as I get out of quarantine, I will be cutting my hair and dyeing the front two strips of my hair. Don’t be surprised if I just dye my entire head blue; it’s not out of consideration.

Honestly? Even this post idea was on impulse. I had no idea about what I was actually going to write once I started.

Anyways, that’s all I have today. Leave a comment if you wish; maybe a link to your blog.

quarantine routine !!

Hi y’all. As we been knew, the coronavirus has taken over the world. Virginia has officially shut down schools for the rest of the year. You know what that means? I had to establish my own little routine.

  • Wow, list time! Such a fancy way to organize things.

  1. Wake up. I know, such a hard step. Although I don’t like to admit it, I’ve only woken up before noon three times this quarantine. My typical wake up time is around 1am. I know, I have a problem.
  2. Bathroom tings. My personal morning (afternoon) bathroom routine always starts with the hygienic cleansing of the bones inside of the mouth. Putting this simply – brushing my teeth. After that I do my little skin-care routine (I’m not gonna go in depth on that). Boom! I’m done with the bathroom.
  3. Getting dressed. This step has been skipped everyday. Everyday is pajama day.
  4. Catch up. Waking up at noon has its own little perks (such as extra sleep), but it also comes with a lot of drawbacks. It requires me to catch up on everything that happened overnight and throughout the morning. Pretty much I just check all of my notifications.
  5. School (ew). This was only added this week, unfortunately. Since my mom’s a teacher, she’s been adamant that I complete things for school. I don’t enjoy it at all, especially since only a few of my teachers have actually posted things related to our actual class. The second my teachers actually start assigning online work, and not just optional hyperlinks, I’m sure I’ll have a much better time.
  6. Vibe.
  7. Movie time! So far, my family has watched some sort of movie literally every night. My family has become very addicted to Marvel movies. We’ve started a marathon and we’re trying to watch every movie in chronological order. Before our marathon started, my sister and I would watch a Disney movie every night too.
  8. Bathroom tings pt. 2. I’ve decided to skip meals for the sake of writing this post. In Bathroom Tings Pt. 2, we get to experience me doing the exact same steps as before. Except, surprise! We switch the order!! Instead of brushing my teeth first, I wash my face first. Gotta love skin-care, amirite?
  9. Sleepy time. Alas, back to sleep. Once again, I start my slumber until the next afternoon.

I’ve done pretty much nothing this entire quarantine. My “routine” literally just consists of procrastination. Love y’all, see you next post.

9 Things I’ve Learned

9 Things I’ve Learned This Year

As we all know, 8th grade is a very educational year (I think). It’s the year right before we transition into high school. So below, I’ve collected a number of things I’ve learned this year. They’re not all specifically educational, but I’ve learned them this year in 8th grade.

  • About Anchor. In our Communications class, we had a podcast unit. We used this website called Anchor. Anchor is a website that easily lets you record and share your podcast to many major listening sites.
  • Lists. Although I’ve made many Kahoots, I never knew you could make a question into a list. In Civics class, we had a Kahoot where every single question was a list/put the answers in order. It was weird, especially since I’ve never seen a Kahoot list before.
  • Lists, continued. Another thing I’ve learned about lists is how many things attract viewers. Apparently, odd numbers gain more views. I always thought multiples of five or two would be the best way since they’re numbers that everybody knows and they’re an easy way to gage how many things are on the list. Guess not though.
  • Hexagon inside a circle. Yeah, I know. This one is a bit wack. I learned how to draw a perfect hexagon inside of a circle! As you can probably guess, I learned this little ‘trick’ in Geometry. This isn’t that important; I just thought of it.
  • Colors. I’ve realized that a lot of people think I like the color combination of yellow and black. Sure, my blog is bee themed, but that’s just because my spam account on Instagram is bee themed. If I was more creative and had come up with a better username, my account would definitely be light pink. Most likely, I’d find some sort of way to incorporate yellow in there too. Fun fact about Beelia, I hate bees (bumblebees and honey bees are on a fine line).
  • Pathos, ethos, logos. Wow, something that’s actually educational. In Communications, I learned about the advertisement techniques that every advertisement has to use. Pathos, which appeals to the emotional side. Ethos, when advertisements appeal to credibility and show that their product is legit. Logos, advertisers use facts and logic to prompt you to buy their product.
  • Biteable. Back at the beginning of the year, we all created a how-to product on what makes a quality comment. You can view the video right here !
  • One-handed 45. As some of you might know, I participated in fall guard/marching band during the fall season. What a lot of people don’t know is that color guard actually has their own individual, inside winter guard season. Our show this year is Hamilton themed. The ending flag toss is definitely the hardest toss I’ve ever learned. We have to use one hand to throw a six-foot metal pole in the air at a perfect 45 degree angle. We have been learning the toss for around three months already and we still haven’t been allowed to move on to using one hand to actually toss.
  • Thesis statements. I’ve decided to close off my list with another thing that’s actually educational. Before this year, I didn’t actually know how to form a proper thesis statement. I had no clue about the [topic]+[position]+[two broad reasons] before 8th grade English. I may be a good writer for essays and things, but somehow I’ve never been taught this before.

These things are just a small portion of all the things I’ve learned this year. I’ve learned so much, and the year isn’t even over. I hope to learn and experience so much more before this year ends.

Last week of SBC !!

Hey fellow bloggers !!

Last week of the SBC, but I’m probably still going to post occasionally.

So, I’m just going to get right into the post. I really enjoyed this blogging challenge, even though I only managed to turn in, like, five submission forms. I wrote seven blog posts overall, since my class skipped emoji week. Personally, I adored week three – fun with photos. I love writing, and since that one was when I actually got to write a fictional story, I simply adored it.

I loved reading the emoji week though. I didn’t do it, but everybody’s post was just so creative. I especially enjoyed this one post I read because it was a math post. I’m in an advanced math class (not the most advanced, that class only has, like, ten people), so the math was easy for me. I noticed that a teacher commented on that post with a different answer than mine, and even though I know I could’ve been wrong, it made me happy with the knowledge that I could’ve been better at math than a teacher (I know I was right; I fact checked myself ten different ways).

I received twenty comments. Both my photo story and my comments post got six comments. Commenting is a very essential part of blogging. It encourages the blogger to write more, it allows bloggers to communicate and interact, it allowed people to give feedback to the blogger, and it turns a blog from a static place to an interactive space.

I didn’t actually learn many new web tools because I have a page on a different website that has a lot of the same things you can do here. Of course, it’s not necessarily a blog, you can just design your about with links and things very easily. I did learn about Biteable, however. You can still check out my Biteable video on commenting in my post titled, “Leaving Quality Comments.”

When it comes to future blogging, I’m a bit lost. I need prompts to write, and without the SBC, I don’t have as many prompts. I want to update more and try to gain a bigger and more diverse audience, but I’m just not sure how to find them.

I truly can’t wait until the next Student Blogging Challenge, but until then, I’ll probably be a lot less active.

(Have a nice butterfly!)

Free Choice – States !!

Sooo, fourth week of the SBC !! Yes, I know I’m a bit late, let’s ignore that though.

Anyways, let’s get right into what this post is.

This weekend, my marching band went to state assessments. It was surprisingly a good temperature. Like, our uniforms are pretty revealing, but I only needed my stadium jacket. The other marching bands we watched were pretty good, but apparently we were the “best” in the time block we were performing at.

Now, of course we all enjoy hearing about a little experience. But the score is the more important part of states. Our band got a superior !!
Obviously some of you guys probably might not know what that means, so I’ll tell you. A superior is the highest score you can get at assessments. Other bands there got excellents, but I think three other bands got a superior in the time block we were.

This is kind of rushed, so I’m sorry for that.
