On February 18th the all-star game took place. This game was the first game of the NBA’s new format for the All-Star game as the teams were drafted by team captains that represented both conferences as LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers represented the east and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors represented the west. The NBA was trying to get more fans interested in the All-Star game so they tried making more competitive as last year’s game’s score was 192-182! that is really high even for an all-star. There was little to no defense being played and it was basically who could do the best dunks. The new format really changed it. There was actual defense being played and it was really great. It was really fun to watch as each player had real talent and they could play properly. To decide the game there was a defensive stop and there was actually a bad call! In an all-star game there almost no refereeing. A lot of people think what could make the game even more exciting was to pick the players right on the court and have no practice with the new teammates. I think that would be an awesome as the captains would just hand the player the jersey when they picked them.
